Iris Haberkorn is Project Lead & Senior Scientist at ETH Singapore Centre leading the Urban Microalgae Protein project. She has a background in Nutrition and Food Science from the University of Hohenheim, Germany and ETH Zurich, Switzerland. She holds a PhD from ETH Zurich in Sustainable Food Processing under the supervision of Prof. Alexander Mathys. Her current work at ETH Singapore Centre focuses on establishing solutions for urban food production and processing using single-cell-based value-chains to establish more resilient, sustainable food systems harnessing circular bioeconomy concepts.

The Singapore-ETH Centre was established in 2010 as a collaboration between ETH Zurich and Singapore’s National Research Foundation (NRF). Based in the NRF’s Campus for Research Excellence and Technological Enterprise (CREATE) in Singapore, the centre is the only research centre set up by ETH Zurich outside Switzerland. Today, the centre runs the Future Cities Lab Global, Future Resilient Systems, Future Health Technologies and a range of research projects to develop practical solutions to some of the most pressing challenges, including sustainability, liveability, resilience and health.
